Project Engineer

The Project Engineer provides assistance to both the Project Manager and Field Superintendent throughout the duration of the construction project. Individual will attend job site meetings, coordinate necessary paperwork, logs and pricing as related to project and assist with quality assurance and on-site safety plan.

POSITION GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

The Project Engineer provides assistance to both the Project Manager and Field Superintendent throughout the duration of the construction project. Individual will attend job site meetings, coordinate necessary paperwork, logs and pricing as related to project and assist with quality assurance and on-site safety plan.

POSITION SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Participate in all meetings onsite including pre-install, subcontractor and Owner meetings. Thoroughly document and track all action items via meeting minutes
  • Coordinate with the Project Superintendent and Project Manager to update and maintain the project’s CPM schedule
  • Develop and maintain the project submittal log and processing
  • Receive, review, log and track on-site deliveries
  • Receive, review, log and distribute RFI’s (Requests for Information)
  • Assist with the management of project changes, including distributing bulletins, reviewing change orders, and requesting subcontractor pricing for change order requests
  • Assist Project Manager with Subcontractor pricing and estimates for change order requests
  • Acquire and upload the appropriate LEED documentation as required by the project
  • Upload photos and documentations into PlanGrid for the project team
  • Ensure adherence to the on-site safety plan
  • Generate the Operations & Maintenance manuals during the closeout phase of construction
  • Assist with additional projects, duties and tasks as assigned

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

Education: Bachelor’s Degree

Knowledge Required: Basic computer abilities and understanding of the construction industry

Experience Required: Entry level position. No previous experience required, but is a plus

Skills/Abilities: Shows the ability to have strong interpersonal, organizational and problem-solving skills.

Senior Project Engineer

The Senior Project Engineer will manage and maintain document controls in accordance Hammond Construction’s policies and procedures, along with internal and external team communications. This individual has demonstrated the ability to be proficient in the Project Engineer role for multiple projects simultaneously, as well as train new Project Engineers.

Superintendent

The Project Superintendent will be primarily responsible for the on-site management of a construction project on a daily basis by implementing and enforcing our core values. The Project Superintendent should be confident, professional, and meticulous. This position should also have the ability to work on their own initiative and as part of a team.

POSITION SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Monitor & enforce all applicable Safety rules & regulations
  • Ensure all construction meets the quality standards set forth in the contract documents
  • Provide pre-construction input as requested by Project Team relating to: constructability reviews, site logistics, schedule, construction sequencing, bid packaging, and summary of work development.
  • Implement, maintain & manage Site Logistics Plan
  • Assist with development, implementation and enforcement of the Site-Specific Safety Plan
  • Manage & maintain project security
  • Conduct pre-installation meetings as required and as needed.
  • Complete & submit Daily Journal, recording all necessary data & progress photos
  • Conduct regular / weekly foremen coordination meetings
  • Provide schedule update data as required (in addition to four-week look ahead schedules)
  • Coordinate, schedule & maintain inspection records as necessary with all authorities having jurisdiction
  • Coordinate, schedule and maintain records as necessary for independent inspections (3rd party)
  • Monitor accurate recording of “as-built” drawings by contractors
  • Provide periodic project update tours with Owners’ representatives as required
  • Primary Project Liaison for Emergency First Responders
  • Identify, document, reject and ensure correction of all non-compliant work
  • Primary “onsite” contact for Owner representatives
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • High School Diploma, or equivalent
  • +5 years of construction supervisory experience
  • OSHA 30-hour certification, preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Competent in Microsoft Office Suite or related software, and adaptable to technology
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent conflict resolution and management skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently, or as a team member
  • Willing to travel locally
  • Able to wear all required PPE
  • Able to access various terrains and traverse typical construction projects
  • Able to climb a ladder
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.

WORK SCHEDULE:

  • 8-hour shift (days), Monday-Friday and occasional Saturdays
